  1. Hi Darla!

This book sounds so interesting! I wouldn’t call myself a nature person, but that would be why I would pick up this book as a way of broadening my horizon and reading something that I would not normally read. This strangely makes me think of a main character of a book that I am currently reading. In “The Blue Castle” by L.M. Montgomery, Valancy Stirling (main character) loves to read nature books by a fictional author named John Foster. She sometimes quotes passages from his books, and they’re usually nature-related. These quotations make me appreciate nature a bit more than I previously had. By the way, I just put this book on hold at my library! Can’t wait to read it!

  2. Hi Darla,

This book sounds fascinating! I am very interested in puppetry and have been thinking for a long time about creating a puppet show featuring a seedling puppet and the story would be of the seedling’s journey and struggles of becoming a full grown tree. I would love to read about the book and all the characteristics of trees. I feel like it could really inform my puppet idea.

    1. Kim,
I just love that! This book would be so great for that. I was literally sitting there reading this book almost sobbing (clearly I am a mess lol) because the author talks about how the trees nurture their babies or old friends and it really just brought them to life for me.

  3. Hi Darla,

This books sounds really interesting and well-written-I'm almost afraid to read it! It took me a long time to move past the notion that every rock and tree has a personality and feelings and a family (Colors of the Wind from Pocahontas is 100% to blame) and this sounds like it would take me right back there. Definitely added to my TBR list!
